Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) focuses on changing your thought patterns to achieve desired results in career, relationships, and other important areas of life.
At its core, NLP teaches you to stop dwelling on problems and provides the how to achieve your dreams and goals. It also helps you bring about changes that are aligned with who you are.
If you’re just getting started with NLP, you’ll have noticed that there is plenty of information to absorb and even more skills to master.
This blog post gives 5 tips for beginners like you to make the NLP course more manageable and less overwhelming.
#1 Break your NLP Training into chunks
If a certain part of the course feels overwhelming to you, break it down into its components. Then, decide which part you’ve to tackle based on the difficulty level of each component.
Here’s a small question you can ask yourself to make this process easier
Which part of the course has the most number of tips that I can implement right away?
Remember that you cannot master the whole skill set at once. It’s always wise to not bite more than what you can chew. Give yourself time to master each skill so that you don’t get discouraged and discontinue the training.
#2 Develop an attitude
We mean this in a good way.
You might have started NLP with an end goal in mind.
So, it’s important to develop attitudes that favour your goals and lifestyle. This way you’ll focus on what you want and forget about who you DON’T want to be.
#3 Be confused
Don’t roll your eyes yet.
Being confused is the first step to understanding things. The hypnotherapist Milton H Erickson said enlightenment is always preceded by confusion.
So, if you feel confused, it means that you’re taking baby steps towards processing the lessons and being a better version of yourself.
In fact, you’ll benefit the most from this course if you’re curious and willing to be confused.
#4 Take responsibility for your change
Implement every technique that you learn to see which one has the most impact on your life. NLP techniques are more experiential in nature.
That’s why you have to experience each technique yourself to understand the tools and yourself better.
You should actively set aside time for practising NLP techniques every day and choose well-being over a downward spiral of negativity.
Remember that you hold the key to change. Course, teachers, and books can facilitate the change only if you’re open to it.
#5 Have Fun
Don’t put enormous pressure on yourself to be perfect after you’ve started implementing NLP techniques. That’s because it’s simply unrealistic to strive for perfection.
Moreover, NLP involves a lot of fun stuff too. So, have fun while you work on becoming a better version of yourself. And get in touch with your playful side while facing challenges head-on.
In short, have serious fun while doing serious work.
Skipped all the way to the end?

- Change your attitude to change your life.
